Rock Climbing

Once or twice a year, Bardon Scouts goes indoor rock climbing at Rocksports in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane’s first indoor climbing gym. No experience is needed: Rocksports staff run a safety briefing and fit everyone with shoes and a harness, and Bardon leaders supervise throughout.

What Happens

After checking in and the safety briefing, Scouts climb on 8 metre walls using top ropes and auto belays, or boulder on the low walls. Routes are colour-coded by difficulty, and there are walls set for younger climbers, so everyone can find something at their level. Staff move around the gym to help beginners.

Wear comfortable clothes that aren’t loose (pants or leggings are best) and socks, and bring a water bottle, a hair tie for long hair and a snack. Climbing shoes, harnesses and chalk are provided.

Cost and Registration

Your Section Leader will announce each session and tell you about any cost and travel arrangements. Places can be limited.
