Pizza and Paddle

Pizza and Paddle

Pizza and Paddle is a Friday night of canoeing followed by pizza, run by Brownsea Water Activities Centre, Scouts Queensland’s water activities centre. Scouts paddle at dusk with Scouts from other groups, then eat together on the shore.

Event Details

When: Friday nights on various dates through the year (Brownsea calendar) Time: 6:45pm to 10:00pm Where: Brownsea Water Activities Centre Who: Scouts, Venturers and Rovers. Joeys and Cubs have their own programs at Brownsea.

How the Night Runs

After arriving at 6:45pm there’s a safety briefing, then paddling from about 7:30pm to 9:00pm. Pizza is served at 9:30pm and the night finishes at 10:00pm. Brownsea’s instructors run the paddling and provide life jackets.

Everyone must be able to swim. Bring a change of clothes (you will get wet), a towel, a warm layer, a water bottle and closed-toe shoes that can get wet.

Getting There

Parents drop Scouts at Roma Street Station, where they meet leaders and travel to Brownsea together. Parents collect them from Brownsea at 10:00pm. Your Section Leader will confirm the meeting point, times and Brownsea’s address before each night.

Cost and Registration

Your Section Leader books Bardon’s places and will tell you about the cost. Places are limited and nights can book out, so let your leader know early if you’d like to go.
