FAQs
What is expected from parents?
At Bardon Scouts, we believe Scouting is a partnership between leaders, young people, and families. Parent involvement is essential to delivering quality programs and creating a supportive community.
Minimum Requirements:
- Parent Roster - Assist with one meeting per term and support fundraising activities
- Sign In and Out - Sign your child in and out at every meeting and event for safety and security
Beyond the Minimum:
We warmly encourage greater involvement! Many parents choose to:
- Become an Adult Supporter (attending 50%+ of meetings)
- Volunteer as a Section Leader or Assistant Leader
- Join our Committee to help with governance, fundraising, and group operations
- Share special skills or expertise (outdoor skills, first aid, IT, arts and crafts, etc.)
- Help with specific events, camps, or activities
Why Parent Involvement Matters:
Parent involvement allows us to run more diverse activities, maintain proper supervision ratios, and build a strong Scout community. Many parents find volunteering rewarding - it’s a chance to watch your child grow, meet other families, get involved in your community, and have fun!
Scouting works best when families are engaged and supportive. Whatever time you can give makes a real difference.
What happens to items left at the Scout Den?
Items left at the Scout Den are stored in our Lost and Found box. We empty the Lost and Found every six weeks, so please check regularly if your child has misplaced anything.
The Lost and Found box is located at the Scout Den and can be checked during meeting times or when the Den is open.
