Joey Jaunt
Joey Jaunt (Joey Scout Jaunt) is a day of activities for Joeys from across Queensland, run by Scouts Queensland. It has been held since 1991, and recent Jaunts in the south of the state have drawn more than 400 Joeys. Bardon Joeys plan to go to the next one.
Event Details
When: Usually August. The 2027 date hasn’t been announced yet. Duration: One day (9am to 3pm in past years) Where: Baden-Powell Park, Samford, in past years (to be confirmed) Who: Joeys
What Happens at Joey Jaunt
Each Joey unit that comes sets up and runs an activity base, so the day is full of different things to try. Joeys get a passport card and collect a stamp or sticker at each base they visit. Past Jaunts have included crafts, obstacle courses, low ropes, archery and rope bridges. Each year has a theme: 2024’s was “Elements”, with activities about water, fire, wind and earth.
Parents come along too, and units ask parents to help run their base so leaders can take the Joeys around.
Cost and Registration
Your Joey Leader registers Bardon Joeys, and will let you know the date, cost and what to bring once Scouts Queensland announces them.
