Group Structure
Group Leader
Each Scout Group operates under the guidance and support of a Group Leader. The Group Leader is responsible to parents and to the Scout Association for the overall management of every part of the Group, including the delivery of the Scout program.
Under the Group Leader, the Group has two main areas, each with its own responsibilities: the uniformed leaders and the Group Committee.
Uniformed Leaders
Uniformed leaders, sometimes called Section Leaders, do the hands-on work each week, at the Den or out in the community. They deliver the Scout program, and their focus is the development of the Group’s youth members. Section Leaders run the weekly program and the camps and outings for their section.
All uniformed leaders at Bardon Scout Group are volunteers, giving their time and energy so that our youth members can enjoy the program and activities. They have all completed an extensive training program before they are allowed to supervise your children.
To find out about becoming a leader, see Volunteering.
Group Committee
The Group Committee manages the Group behind the scenes. It is made up of parent volunteers and led by the Group Committee Executive: the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Other committee roles are added as the Group needs them. See Committee for more.
Other Supporters
Adult Supporters
Adult Supporters are non-uniformed adults who regularly help deliver the youth program. They only take part in youth member activities under the guidance of a trained leader who holds a Certificate of Adult Leadership.
Adult Supporters must hold a Blue Card and complete the national e-learning modules Child Safe Scouting and WHS for Scouting. If you’d like to be an Adult Supporter, the easiest way to meet these requirements is to join online as an Adult Member of Scouts. See Adult Supporters for more.
