District Camps

District Camps are weekend camps shared with the other Scout Groups in our district: Oakleigh, The Gap and St Johns Wood. Each section has its own camps, so Joeys camp with Joeys, Cubs with Cubs and Scouts with Scouts, meeting members of the same section from the other groups.

What Happens at a District Camp

A typical camp starts on Friday evening with setting up tents, a welcome and a campfire. Saturday is a full day of activities run by leaders from all four groups, such as skill stations, wide games, pioneering and outdoor cooking, with another campfire or night activity in the evening. Camp finishes on Sunday morning with a final activity, packing up and a closing ceremony. Joey camps are shorter and simpler, and suit first-time campers.

Your Section Leader will send a packing list, travel arrangements, and drop-off and pick-up times before each camp. Let them know about any allergies, dietary needs or medications.

Cost and Registration

Camp fees depend on the campsite and length of the camp, and usually cover the site, meals and activities. Your Section Leader will tell you the cost and how to register when the camp is announced. Places can be limited by the campsite.

Parent volunteers help with supervision, activities and logistics. If you’d like to help, speak to your Section Leader.
