Communication
Bardon Scouts uses three channels to keep parents informed: Consent2go, WhatsApp and email.
Our Communication Channels
Consent2go is where you’ll receive activity permission requests, event details and RSVP requests, payment requests for camps and activities, and important announcements. Learn more about Consent2go.
WhatsApp: each section has a WhatsApp group for quick updates: last-minute changes to meeting locations, reminders about upcoming events, quick questions, photos from activities (with permission) and general announcements.
Email is used for formal communications, detailed event information, committee updates, important documents and forms, and annual information.
Joining the WhatsApp Group
When your child joins Bardon Scouts, you’ll be invited to your section’s WhatsApp group. Please:
- Accept the invitation promptly
- Keep notifications on for important updates
- Check the group regularly for announcements
- Reply when asked (RSVPs, questions and so on)
WhatsApp Group Guidelines
Keep the group to Scout-related messages that are brief, clear and courteous, and reply to requests for information. Please don’t share unrelated content, have personal conversations in the group (use direct messages instead), share photos of other people’s children without permission, or post before 7am or after 9pm.
Responding to Communications
Please respond promptly to Consent2go RSVP requests (even if your child won’t be attending), permission forms for activities and camps, requests for parent roster volunteers, and questions from leaders. Timely responses help leaders plan activities and make sure there’s enough supervision.
Emergency Communication
During meetings or events, phone your Section Leader directly. Don’t try to contact your child on their own phone (see our Phone Use Policy); leaders have phones for emergencies. After hours, contact your Section Leader for urgent matters, and use email or WhatsApp for anything else.
Keeping Your Details Current
Please keep your email address up to date in Consent2go, tell leaders if your phone number changes, and update emergency contact details straight away, so you receive all our messages and we can reach you in an emergency.
Questions About Communication?
If you have questions or aren’t receiving updates, please contact us or speak with your child’s Section Leader. See also our Code of Conduct, which includes our expectations on RSVPs.
